You DO NOT have to insure a dirt bike that is being driven on private property only.
You DO have to insure a dirt bike to drive it on public roads and highways.
This also applies to other off highway vehicles such as ATVs and Snowmobiles.
If using privately on your own land, you don’t need registration or insurance. If you are using them on public roads, you need both insurance and registration.
This differentiation also applies to other rules as well. No helmet law, age law, or licensing on private land.
On public roads you must be properly licensed, be at least 14 years old and wear a helmet.
