How many demerit points for a DUI in Alberta?
A DUI is a very serious traffic violation in Alberta law.
You will receive 7 Demerit Points on your driving record as well as other fines and legal consequences.
You will get a DUI with a BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) off .08 or more.
Alberta is known for being a province that takes drinking and driving very seriously.
It should also be pointed out that if you have a GDL license, the BAC for legal consequences is 0.00. There is zero tolerance for any blood alcohol whatsoever.
Depending on the circumstances of your DUI, demerits may be the least of your troubles, as there can be criminal charges, jail times and license suspensions.
